I have been meaning to post this for ages, but alas i am lazy. So over the past few weeks i have been having this album "Rock And Roll Killing Machine" and have fallen in love with it all over again. It simply is one of the best hardcore albums ever, with amazing guitar work alot different from all the other bands around at this time and vocals that are delivered with so much rage that it will make you nose bleed.

There is something quite sinister about the album, i think it's mainly down to the lyrics and the semi dirty sound of it all. Rarely does an album have such an impact but that it did.

Leaving Songs

So here's a great little band for you all to keep an eye out for this year, Leaving Songs! Playing some really nice screamo/emo tunes that are both heavy and uncompromising to slowing it down for the great break downs before charging head forward to the pacey parts. Clever, clinical and clearly love what they are doing, then all welcome Leaving Songs.

Watch out for their self titled EP coming out with in the next month on the ever impressive Mayday Mayday Records.

Do you have the skills to get the gzils? Didn't think so but these guys do in droves. Hailing from British Columbia this two piece certainly know how to shred shit up. Sounding like the bastard child of Yowie in 8 bit ,their noise is exact and freeform. At a first listen i sounds crazy but the more you get into it the more you see there is a method behind the madness. Each track is short like thirty seconds short and putting to shame a whole range of instrumental bands with their unique idea's and powerful drive. Now here is their Skills on Cassette download BUT there are still ones to be bought so go to their Mysapce and buy one, you wont regret it.

Here's a band you have to check out the wonderful Polina. Mixing up the intensity of punk with sprinklings of emo hardcore (the good kind of emo that is) and some great technical diversity, then how can that not sound good. You only have to see their influences to see that they are willing to try and play something a bit different to most other bands in this genre. From Miles Davies to Pig Destroyer to Drive Like Jehu!

Their EP will be out in late January next year and more tracks will be posted on their myspace very soon. So go on over and say hello!

Call Me Betty

How fucking great were Call Me Betty!?!? So good infact that i'm going to run a small post on them. Sadly they have all parted ways but Tom went on to form Henry Fonda the truly awesome Powerviolence band (see previous post). But back to Call Me Betty! Outstandingly complex and heavy all at the same time like some mad jazz band that took way to much H and picked up guitars and rocked the fuck out! This is one of the bands that i wish i had seen, but always i didn't grrrrr. But for people that like their hardcore to be challenging and well put together but also is crazier than an old guy thinking he is Abraham Lincoln then this is the band for you!
