Pine Barrens

So here is another amazing local band that have just put up their demo on Bandcamp. Pine Barrens are pretty unrelenting. Playing a good fast brand of hardcore with interesting mix up's and changes. For a demo it sounds pretty darn good, bit rough and dirty!

This is a must!

Straight, No Chaser

Ahh what a amazing band these guys were. Inventive, chaotic and powerful. Hardcore as it should be. So you are in for a treat as they posted up all the stuff they put out on the blog link below. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Cabin Fire

Hard to pin point what these guys sound like, but something between a furious rage of uncompromising proportions and a nervous, anxious energy would be somewhere on the way there. Really is a powerful form of hardcore with fast, heavy sections topped off with slower and more subdue sections that adds a little something different. I always like to champion this kinda of music that puts the danger and angst back into hardcore.

Below is their American Lies EP and it is rather bloody good!

Motivation

So here is the amazing Motivation! Straightedge Positive punk from Hungary. My love of the stuff coming out out Hungary is well known, it's almost like stepping back into the mid nineties with thrash/PV/hardcore bands just everywhere!

These fellows have been heading the charge for awhile now with the none stop tours and releases. It's good to see a hardcore band with a positive message, and yes i know alot of people do or don't agree with the straightedge principles but when the music is this good then who cares! Crank this shit up and let the posi river flow over you!

The End of History?

So a great new hardcore band from the sunny UK. Featuring ex members of the awesome Jesus of Spazzareth then you already have an idea of what these dudes about. They only have one track up at the moment but it's amazingly good, short (like 38 seconds short), fast and unrelenting. The future looks bright!

Fig 4.0

One of the best hardcore/punk/thrash bands to have ever come out of the UK in many many years. They split up many moons ago but they still live on as a high standard for other bands to follow. The songs are fast, intense and pretty creative. Not just the standard boring old formula's which does plague these genres somewhat, they switch up the styles at lightning fast tempo's without compromising the melodies at any point. They were that good!

This has to be a must!!!

Into The Storm

Hard to pin point who these guys sound like but who cares! Styles ranging from screamo/hardcore/metal all mixed together with almost perfection. The sound of these guys is like the clash of thunder before the storm and at points almost the complete opposite. Each track is pretty different from the next and creates a great all round atmosphere, something that does lack from previous stated genres. I can't rate these guys highly enough, so git some.

Happy New Year!

Well as the new year is about to kick off then i thought i would post up some older stuff from some awesome bands that you may of heard of but some classic shit that you all should have!

Bob Tilton - Peel Sessions

My favourite British emo band of all time and this is a pure treat! Coming from the always brilliant and very much missed radio DJ John Peel RIP is the great session they did for his show. Playing some of their best tracks i just love everything about it. A definite for any emo fan.

As The Sun Sets - 8949

Before Daughters was As The Sun Sets and hot damm they were so good. Their first album was pretty much straight up grind hardcore with some odd spazzy sections. And then they shortened the tracks and turned up the intensity ten fold. The results were sublime and this small EP is as good as it gets, so get it!

Lockout - Demo

These cats split up just under a year or so ago and what a shame! Five tracks of bone crushing punk hardcore that is well thought out without compromising on the speed or furiousity. The guitar is loud, the bass smacks you in the face like a pimp slap, the drums are brilliant and the throat screamed vocals are just perfect! Awesome.

Sleepytime Trio - Memory Minus

Everytime i listen to this album it amazes me the timelessness of it. Always sounding fresh it just shows how good they really were. This also includes a good few live tracks as well which are amazing. All Hail Sleeptyime!

Slayer - Reign in Blood

Still shits on everything ever haha.

Call Me Betty

How fucking great were Call Me Betty!?!? So good infact that i'm going to run a small post on them. Sadly they have all parted ways but Tom went on to form Henry Fonda the truly awesome Powerviolence band (see previous post). But back to Call Me Betty! Outstandingly complex and heavy all at the same time like some mad jazz band that took way to much H and picked up guitars and rocked the fuck out! This is one of the bands that i wish i had seen, but always i didn't grrrrr. But for people that like their hardcore to be challenging and well put together but also is crazier than an old guy thinking he is Abraham Lincoln then this is the band for you!

Der Gini-Koeffizient

Dance or Die!

How awesome is that pic! Anyways here's another slice of super awesome Hungarian hardcore! The rawness of the demo is really refreshing, and does what it says on the tin, hardcore, fast and super aggressive the way it should be. So grab a copy, turn it up and mosh!!!!!!!
